How to Set Deposit, Loss and Session Limits
Every account includes tools you set yourself from the account settings, and you can use them from the day you register.
| Tool | What it controls | Range | When it applies |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deposit limit | The amount you can deposit | Set by you | Immediately when lowered |
| Loss limit | The amount you can lose | Set by you | Immediately when lowered |
| Session reminder | The time you spend in one visit | Set by you | Immediately |
Tightening a limit takes effect at once. Raising or removing one only applies after 24 hours, which protects you from a decision taken in the middle of a bad session.
How Time-Outs and Self-Exclusion Work
A time-out closes your account to play for a period from 24 hours to 6 weeks, and self-exclusion does the same from 6 months up to permanently. Both take effect immediately, and we do not accept deposits or bets from the account while they run. You activate them in the account settings or through the live chat, and the chat staff will walk you through the steps.
Provincial self-exclusion programs only cover operators authorized in that province, so they do not apply to Rider Bet, which holds no provincial authorization. To exclude yourself from our site, use our own self-exclusion tool and tell support so the decision is recorded.
Warning Signs of Problem Gambling
Gambling becomes a problem when it starts to drive your decisions instead of fitting around them. Watch for chasing losses with larger bets, depositing more than you planned, borrowing money to play or hiding how much you spend from family and friends. Other signs are playing for longer than you meant to, feeling irritable when you stop, and neglecting work, studies or relationships. If two or three of these sound familiar, use a limit or a time-out now and talk to someone.
How We Verify Age and Protect Minors
Players must be 19+ (18+ in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec). We verify your identity at your first withdrawal or once your cumulative deposits reach $3,000, and we close accounts that belong to minors. Keep your login details private and do not save passwords on shared devices. Parents can block gambling sites with the controls built into the device, such as Apple Screen Time on iPhone and iPad or Google Family Link on Android.
How to Keep Gambling Within a Budget
Treat gambling as paid entertainment and not as a source of income, because every game has a house edge and no system beats it. Decide how much you can afford to lose before you deposit, and set that amount as a deposit limit so the decision is not left to the moment. Never play with money meant for rent, bills or savings, take breaks between sessions, and stop when you reach your limit, whether you are winning or losing.
